Windows (as most of us know) is a widely used OS in the consumer desktop market, holding over 70% of the market. Originally created as a shell for the at the time revolutionary MS-DOS command-line based OS, Windows has evolved into a largely adopted desktop OS that runs and displays applications with ease of use for the consumer.
From the mid-90's to Windows 11, Microsoft has been providing the primary platform for Home and Business users, as well as Software and Hardware developers. Competitors have chipped away at the market but remain far from truly threatening Microsoft's 40 year dominance.
